Our Ash Grass Mix was created to assist our region during the devastation fires in 2023, to get your farm and home growing again. We designed this mix specifically for our region to grow in the light sub optimal conditions while still providing you with adequate cover and growth.
The Ash Grass Mix from Tara Rural Supplies Contains the following:
KATAMBORA RHODES 40%
PREMIER DIGIT 15%
GATTON PANIC 25%
SHIROHIE MILLET 20%
Katambora Rhodes was selected because it is perfect for lighter soils and is drought and salt tolerant. It is hardy but also provides a good cover and grazing for horses, stock and animals. Not only is this this sturdy Rhodes grass great for our local soil but, it also performs year-round with its high drought tolerance.
Digit Grass is well suited to light soils and grows well into autumn. It also grows well where Sulphur and phosphorus are deficient as is often the case in our area. In addition to good drought tolerance Digit Grass is also suited for fire survival.
Gatton Panic is a natural companion to Rhodes and Digit Grass making it a perfect addition to this blend. As with the other varieties is maintains a good drought tolerance reaching its prime in spring to mid-summer.
Fast recovery and quick growth is the strength of Shirohie Millet which partners with the rest of this study blend. This addition provides a great leafy and productive plant throughout the summer and due to its fast-growing nature can be sown early.
